My Dad used to work in Saudi Arabia in the 80's and I even lived there with him for a couple of years. I think that's when I started to enjoy finding old or interesting items from places far away. I have minor picked places like Saudia Arabia, Greece, Egypt, Russia, Japan, etc. but when I was was younger and basically travelling with my parents. My job nowadays I can still do that as well since I travel everywhere, but I have a tough time trying to fit things into my luggage, so I leave a lot behind!
:(
ANYWAY, my Dad picked these two vases (?) seemingly made from a bronze material (not sure) at a local flea market in Riyadh. We turned them into lamps (but not by damaging the items at all). We also got some cool brass tea pots, hubbly-bubbly's, plant holders, and other old Arabian brass items. I just wanted to learn a bit about these and thought I would post it in case anyone can help. They made be something made for tourists, but I still want to know...(but then again, there really isn't a lot of "tourists" in Saudi Arabia..!??) I will post some more Saudi Arabian "picks" later...I just flew in from England and need some rest! (My arms are tired...)
