I knew I had to have this the moment I spotted it at an estate sale on Friday. I’m no glass expert, but looks to be mid century Italian maybe?
I added a photo of the underside. The dimensions are 12” diameter and 5.5” height. Thank you!
Thank you newfld
Any glass experts have thoughts about the maker of this 12” bowl? Does it look Venetian?
I think it's a desk lamp shade, that would be held up by 3 arms from the center of the lamp. Very nice, I dont recognize the decor, but it seems to be 1930s deco glass. Lots of European glass lamp makers at that point. Funny I have a lamp with 3 arms but not shade from France....lol
truth or dare,, thanks so much. That’s very interesting, I never would have thought of that possibility. However, it does have the flat spot for the bowl to rest on.
Can you post an image of the underside? I would think it to be a bowl if the underside is flat. Also curious as to the dimensions.
Welzebub, I added a photo of the underside. The dimensions are 12” diameter and 5.5” height. Thank you!
I do not know who made it, or where, but I would say it was definitely made to be a bowl, and not a lamp shade. It also strikes me as newer (1960's on) as opposed to being an earlier piece. Regardless of that, it is a really pretty piece of glass.
mattress+cop, thanks, I had another idea about this, if a bowl of this size, might be a centerpiece console bowl that might have had a plinth or metal stand to fit in. Very nice.
Thanks all for your comments.
