i found this woodblock yesterday at my favorite segunda. i'd love to know who the artist is! i think it's from the 1940s or 50s, but not sure. nice silk mat too. but there's dirt between the glass and the print. should i open it and clean myself?
This scene is so beautiful and peaceful, I love it! It looks fine as is, I think that dirt in the corner is a watermark (see the stain on back) so I think that's hard to remove
This is a 1936 Tsuchiya K?itsu print with the title Maiko no Hama (the Seashore at Maiko).
Tsuchiya K?itsu was very well-known for his involvement with the Shin Hanga [new print] movement.
This is such a beautiful piece- would be lovely on the cover of a journal too or something! Really nice!
