I have been unable to determine the provenance of this rocker. The woman here in New York City who redid the rush seat about thirty years ago said she thought it was a production piece of a NY furniture guild around the turn of the century. Any thoughts appreciated.
It likely was a makers spin on the style which is rather unique. There were thousands of makers early in the 20th century and about 99% left no records.
Interesting old chair. It is called a lattice back chair. PhilDMorris is right about the archives, however I think this isn't American made. I would guess this chair came from Yorkshire, UK long ago.
mushroom-grip rocking armchair.
