This cobalt vase is 9 7/8" high x 4 1/2" wide at the top and 3 1/8" wide at the bottom. The color is a violet/blue hue. The bottom seems to have what looks like a mold line circling it. The three vertical depressions on the outside are raised on the inside, like the glass was pushed inward, very precisely, as the depressions were made. The bottom is ground flat, but there is a small circle of shiny, unground glass in the middle, like an "innie" belly button. Possibly a pontil mark? There is a fair amount of wear and random scratching to the ground portion, so I think this is a fairly old piece. maybe American studio glass, though if that was the case, I would expect it to be signed, which it is not. I've never seen anything like this. Maybe made in a mold and then worked again? Very interesting vase. No idea who made it, or when. Found at the Goodwill in Urbana/Champaign, Il. Any thoughts on this one?

Identified as a Catholic Church Sanctuary Cemetery Blue Glass Votive Candle Holder, age unknown, but probably pre-1980s.

Update on this vase. I found one on eBay and the seller says he has had it for over forty years. He also said:

"It was in the Mid-Hudson Valley of NY. I believe it is a candle holder / candle vase from a church. The kind of candle Christians light in memory of someone who has passed." .

Using the ebay seller's clue, I was able to identify this as a Catholic Church Sanctuary Cemetery Blue Glass Votive Candle Holder. It actually sits in a metal holder with a metal cap on top. Here are some examples:
