Although not in the greatest of condition, I bought this as I just loved the imagery on it. It's made of pressed steel and obviously has had a hard life. The clothing on the models must be of late 70's/early 80's vintage and I love the expressions on their faces, pulling on their cigarettes as though their lives depended on them. There are two vertical slots along the bottom which are difficult to see, but I'm told they were there to have a calendar hung from them. I'd like one day to be able to track down a matching calendar for it.
Although pretty 'tacky' from a 2018 perspective, I think it captures cigarette promotion in period perfectly.
Very nice image, the couple appears to be standing at an Italian piazza judging from the architecture and numerous pigeons
Hi Newfld, I may be mistaken but I think the building is the National Gallery in London. If it is, then the couple are standing in Trafalgar Square.
Oops, you're right, I should have guessed from the girl's mod London hairstyle. The pigeons threw me lol
Ha ha, it was actually those damn pigeons that got me thinking about Trafalgar Square. lol
