This beautiful trunk has found its way into my life. I think the patent date is 1855. On the wheel patents. The outside has this wood like wallpaper that is actually old leather. With hand carved designs, or burned ectch. I have seen many of these, but none like this one. Love the old lithograph print on the inside. Thanks for looking just wanted to share!
Embossed leather, but in really bad shape, the wheels on it are patented 1855, it also had leather straps and buckles, I would say 1860's give or take a bit, very cool hidden key hole lock, you slide the little key hole hider over and it locks in place, push down on the left button above it, and it springs it open, not sure on the date on the lock, cant see a date on the two that I have, greendog.
It is more than likely embossed leather. That wonderful indigo blue interior is in decent shape for it's age.Good to see it survive, thanks for the post. https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/pages/US13853-0.png

Thanks for the help. I'll update pictures when I go pick it up.
I updated my last picture. There's a makers tag. I know nothing about trunks and haven't had time to research.
