I am not sure what I got here but I am sure it has some age. There is some wear to the gilding and a small chip - barely visible. There are some initials imprinted in the base but no other marks. The bird and the fruits are exquisitely painted by hand and the colours are bright and beautiful.
The porcelain is thick-walled and the white glaze is very shiny.
I searched for English porcelain but didn't find a match. I have seen some similar pieces under "Old Paris" but because I have never seen one of these pieces and held them in my hand, I cannot really make a comparison.
Any ideas or comments are very welcome.
Thanks for looking:)
I just love this!
Beautiful, and the bird is a Goldfinch, if you are interested!
Whomever painted it did a splendid job.
The interior can give clues. If it's all one piece and there are dimples inside where the handles are, it's not likely from before the 1910s, and can usually be moved closer to 1930.
Mrstyndall, I am glad you like it like I do. Thanks so much for your comment. Sorry for the late response. We just finished sealing the driveway. Everything seems to take a lot longer than anticipated:(
Thomas, many thanks for your comment. The colours really got my attention, too. This piece stood out on the shelf.
you know dear this is a beauty. Here this are known as "Isabelinos" lets say elizabethean ?. I think is Vieux Paris....
sweetttttt.
AdeleC, thanks for your comment. I am really bad identifying birds. Other than the most common ones, I don't know any:(
