My husband is usually rather supportive. He tries to learn about vintage and antique items and very often even finds some for me to consider. But not this time! He really hated it and I think I should have listened. But I like a challenge and so I bought it anyway, risking an ugly divorce over some pieces of plastic!
I think I bought someone's craft project! The clasp looks like the ones one can find on pressed amber necklaces. The round nuggets look like well done imitation amber, the blue/turquoise spacer beads are the worst plastic beads one can imagine,
and the spiky thin thingies are, well, I have no idea.
Thanks for looking:)
Love your honesty here, I hope there is not some voodoo hex !~
Lol Freiheit, I'm sure we have all done this at some point in our collecting careers!! I know I have:-) )
PhilDMorris, thanks for your comment. I hope so too! Some voodoo hex is the last thing I need!
TassieDevil, I am glad I am not the only one! Thanks for your comment:)
plastic addiction! You will enjoy wearing it.
I wanted to post an update because my necklace has morphed into a bit more wearable version. Here is how it happened:
A few weeks ago, I went with some friends to St. Jacobs, Ontario. Right across the farmers market is a small antique market. What do I find right across the checkout in one of the beautiful showcases: a smaller version of my necklace! It was labeled as Baltic amber and had an insane rice tag on it. It also was re-strung and had a modern clasp. After seeing this necklace, I decided to have a second look at mine. It turns out that the pieces floated in salt water and the rubbing test was positive for amber, too. Now, I am not claiming that it is amber, but there is a possibility that it might. I restrung it with some amber bead spacers, and now it looks wearable. When I say wearable, I mean that a daring woman like me would take a chance. So, Toronto, watch out, here I come - LOL
Lentika, plastic or not, yes, I will wear it now. Thanks for your comment:)
Many thanks for the love, fortapache:)
Thanks a lot, Caperkid:)
