I found this today. It works and the birds sing so pretty. I paid $8 for it! I don't think it's very old, but nevertheless, I love it!

I like this because I have always thought birds in cages was cruel.

I agree with you blunderbuss, I could never own a real bird in a cage.

Always felt sorry for the birds also. I don't think anybody in my family ever owned one. Eight bucks is a good deal.

Very pretty cage & birdies raven, they look like finches. As a former parakeet owner I just want to say that most domestically bred birds are usually caged, and bird owners mostly buy a large enough cage so the bird has plenty of flying space. Ours lived to be 10 and 12, they could talk, and most of their time was spent hopping to different perches to play with their toys, eat & drink, and interact with people - they were well cared for and seemed quite happy

Oh my, yours could talk! 10 to 12 years of love, I know it was a difficult loss. Thank you for the information.

A bird in a cage isn't at all cruel if you are a responsible bird owner. Their cage to them is like your home is to you. They become quite protective of it especially if they are breeding. At the moment I have three parrots, one sun conure and two cockatiels. Half of them are rescue birds and the others hatched right here and were hand raised. All of them are out of their cage when I am home. All of them are spoiled with papaya treats, peanuts, veggie seed balls, pop corn, pellets and Gator Ade from their own Thomas the Train cup. Yes they drink from a cup. They speak quite clearly and tell me when they want to come out and ask for what they want to eat. Their cages are their safe haven. Should we have a thunder storm or a cat or dog out front they run to their cage. The problem comes into play when people leave any animal in a cage 24/7 and pay no attention to them. They need to get out and exercise and explore and make a mess.

Thank you Fhrjr2 for the information. You grow when you know, thanks.

Sorry, but my experiences has led me to believe that caged animals do not behave naturally. Most won't even breed & are not offered the natural selection of mates. I've always liked the variety ! Caged with one mate ! That's an unnatural act to me and most animals. In pagan times, I understand that there was a thing called "marriage", but it lost popularity some time pre-digital. LOL !!!!
