I found these about 15 years ago on the side of the street, outside a store that was going out of business. There were six or eight of them and I grabbed only two, as I was on foot. It never occured to me that they might be collectible. They are BIG. One I use as an umbrella and walking cane stand. I can easily get a half dozen canes, a baseball bat (it sits next to my back door) and a couple of large umbrellas in it. The other one, the one shown, I use for junk storage in my bathroom, so it gets alot of abuse and shows it. They are clear glass but painted inside and out with gold paint. Not sure if it qualifies as goofus, or not. They are 16" high and 10.5" in diameter at their widest. The mouth looks rough, due to loss of paint, but is well finished. There are no markings except for a circle on the bottom that probably has something to do with their manufacture. I've always assumed they were American. Do these ring a bell for anyone? There is one on ebay that the seller speculates was made by Phoenix Glass or Consolidated Glass. It is painted "plum" on the inside only.
UPDATE: I found one with a label on it! Anchor Hocking ca 1980s.
Hi, What makes you think these are glass?
I can see the glass. In some places the paint is scraped away inside and outside and the bottom is not painted on the outside. Very easy to see that they are glass.
Great design, kind of art deco feel to them, but may be 80's, hard to say.

I found an example with a UPC label. Anchor Hocking, probably 1980s.
