Hi Everyone! Long time no see, right?!? Just busy with life but I wanted to do a little show and tell on a "Kyra-tization trick"...I hope.

Here's what I'm working with! I practically stole this Native American cuff bracelet because of the one missing cabochon as you can see in photo #2. I'm not positive which mine the stones came from but I believe they are either Sleeping Beauty or Kingman, it's so hard to tell because of so much conflicting info on our wonderful www.

Regardless, this cuff is a win, win for me ($65.00 + Free ship) And 12 watchers! Are you kidding me. And I have 3 pieces that will fit in that very spot. The piece in photo#3 is attached to a clip on earring that I purchased and of course, removed the bottom part and added a wire instead. Once I get this done, if I do it right, I'll show you the real after...thank you very much kyratango for your inspo here! This one is definitely a keeper at about 10% of what they normally sell at. In fact, I have lots of found goodies to show y'all and hope to do so soon! I LOVE seeking out sellers like the one I purchased this from! Don't we all?!? YESSS!

I'll be back later today... Again, thanks Ms kyra for all the great repairs you do and that really goes out to quite a few of us here...Manikin, Valentino97 etc, etc...

    Enjoy, xoxo!

Interesting. I know next to nothing about Native American jewelry except that I like it and it's usually silver, turquoise and pretty. I'm concerned that the turquoise piece as well as it's bezel are missing-scratch marks imply it was forced off. I thought the Natuve Americans worked the silver manually making the bezel one with the bracelet. These bezels may have been soldered on.
I know even less about sources of turquoise. How can it's mine be identified? I'm very new to this site but loving it and learning! Some of my most treasured items came from thrift stores!

Hi there Watchsearcher. Thanks for your comment. I am not a silversmith but I know quite a few and actually I am the goofy one that scratched it! It was pretty thick right there with gunk and it was being stubborn, I got more stubborn and impatient is what happened. I know most of you are wondering what the heck was I thinking!!! haha I knew that what I put there will cover it after a long time...I did butcher it. (Shaking my head in amazement especially because I know better!) If my trying a quick trick just for the heck of it doesn't work, I'll send it out to my lady silversmith to fix for me. Now I'm sitting here thinking maybe I better just send it out to her anyway!!! The bezels are applied after the piece is flattened, stamped then shaped into a cuff. I am making it sound much more simple than it really is. I can tell you, the smiths that I know and have seen them work, end up all with blisters and cuts on their fingers all the time. This work is very labor intensive. When you hear the word 'sawtooth' bezel, that's because that is how they do get that affect, they saw each little piece and not only do they be stabbed by the blades, the tips of each tooth are extremely sharp.

Here is a link for you to watch, the ironic part about this is that the cuff they are working on looks like it could be the same cuff! And I was right about the turquoise, it is Sleeping Beauty. That mine is closed and the people that have stock piled it in their back rooms or where ever are bringing it back out and making a grip of money on it.

      Here's the link for you:

I was going to mention that they constantly have to be careful of how much heat they put on one piece...you will see why! The whole thing could snap quickly into a ball of silver just like the little beads you see them making.

Enjoy that video. There are many more there! And welcome to CW By the way ;)

So, you're challenging me in doing your own kyratisations? ;-))
Well done for catching/stealing the cuff! It is a BEAUTY!
Do you still have the bezel? from my reading, I understood you scratched the mount in removing... gunk or bezel?
Your silvermith lady will be able to fix the replacement turquoise you have the luck to have, that is the convenient option IMHO. :-D

Hi kyra… I can't believe I did that... I wasn't even thinking when I did those scratchings. No the bezel was not there.. Many times the silversmith will have a stone that is just a bit too small so what they do is put some kind of "filler" under the stone so that it appears to be the same size when they close the bezel. I know some of them use sage as a filler. You eventually know something was under the stone because it will wash away over time, guess I could have said 'thyme' ah ha ha! No, not a challenge at all, just a simple assumption that I might be able to pull something off here with a great silversmith waiting to see if it fails or not ;) For this bracelet, I figured it's worth a try. Now the trick is to find the other 2 cabochons I have for the best fit! I hope my idea works... ;)

So, here I am feeling very inadequate as you guys attempt and succeed at restos.
All I know about native American jewellery is what I've learnt here, so I trust you got a bargain. It's pretty awesome even if had little value, and will suit you just fine!

Mary, I never knew that they added filler, I know now since I watch so many excellent lady silversmiths but mostly they use herbs. You are right in not wearing it while water is near but I just completely forget. A while back I had forgotten to remove my jewelry while bleaching out an old lampshade and while spraying it didn't even realize I had some bracelets on just spraying away like nothing...then the dreaded moment when I realized what I had done! They weren't even the expensive ones but daily's none the less. Took them off, so bummed, nothing worked to restore them and one day I picked them back up and just kept using a jewelers cloth and back to normal they came!!! I hope I never do that again tho!

Well Hey my far away friend! Hi Karen, it has been way to long!!! I had to come back to report here that what I thought would work did not BUT... I have another idea and we'll see how that one pans out. I wear this one anyway just like it is and no one has ever even said anything. They're probably too busy looking at all the other ones I have on at the same time! haha I hope all is well with you! Did you see my comment on your dragonfly??? xoxo

I wish I knew as much about this jewellery as Mr. Bird on Judge Judy. He always wears incredible turqoise like this. Wonderful top rate repair !~
    13. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 6 years ago
Hi Phil!!! You just love your Judge Judy don't you! lol. I've not seen it in a long time and don't recall a Mr. Bird! I might have to check that out.

No, this is not a repair, just a flipped over pic! I wish it was tho. My fingers just don't want to co-operate with what I want them to do besides the fact I just recently had a tussle with an exacto knife it won! The whole top if my index finger does nothing but tingle and what part doesn't, I cant feel anything. Yea, I've been having just so much fun! Trade places???
