These pin dishes are driving me nuts! I thought it would be easy to find the maker etc, as the are marked on the base, but it says S.B.S £1 Million 1966, but I can't find what that means. I am assuming the dishes have been marked for some event, but I can't find what it is, and can't find dishes like these, though I think they are quite common! Help. they are 12 cms across.
I think I may have solved who made these pin dishes. I picked up a small pottery vase this morning with the same design and a pottery mark. Studio Szeiler is a Staffordshire pottery, which dates from 1951 -1986. They specialised in ceramic animals of all sorts, and I havn't yet found anything of a similar design yet online. When I took the label off the little vase it peeled off some of the paint, which is very annoying.
Thank you for looking Ms.Crystalship. It’s very frustrating thinking it should be easy to find info on something, and not finding a thing!
No news yet Eileen, thanks for that.
They have a Schafer and Vater style design
I thought I'd solved these dishes, as I found a pomander recently with the same design of these dishes, with a label on the bottom. it said "Ye Olde Ceramic Pomander - Aidees of Torquay - Bovey Tracey - Devon -England", but on looking that up, it seems to be a shop that sold Pomanders, not the maker of pottery.
I have updated these pin dishes, as I found a little vase of the same design with a backstamp!
