A friend of mine's father was a Lt. Col. In the army. Col. Swafford was a specialist in artillery at many locations. He witnessed the "Atomic Annie" atomic shell test among other tests of various weapons.. He passed away in the late 80's after 30 years of service The Colonel was a down to earth un-assuming super individual to know.
I took some photos of his memorabilia in the den.
The first ia a print I've always liked. "The Evolutiom of Armor". With the calvary in the clouds and the various stages of USA Calvary/Armor leading down to the M-60.
The second is a presentation plaque from the 1st. F A Brigade from '64.
The third. is so cool, its from when he was at Aberdeen. It's a bullet stopped half way through a piece of metal they make in the labs for presentation pieces.
Finally a painting of Lt. Col Hugh T. Swafford. Colonel I proudly present these items in remembrance of your service to our country and our friendship.
Great tribute to your friend Colonel Swafford, & that halfway stopped bullet is so cool
Thank you, I think Col Swafford have loved this forum. He had tons of old stuff from overseas. A nice English grandfather clock, a beautiful German stein set, a Danish 5 piece office set with this cool shaped desk etc. I'll try to get some pics.
Great post Toyrebel. Love all the items here. I am a big tank fan.
