This thing is a real pain to photograph, it is big, a fingerprint magnet, inconsistent in color and very bottom heavy. It is 14.25" high x 4" square x 5.75" in diameter at the top. The bottom is ground and there is no sign of a pontil. It has clear, blue and white glass layers. No markings. There are a couple of ovals near the bottom on two sides, but I don't think it is a maker's mark, maybe just a byproduct of the process used to make it. The color changes gradually from dark blue at the bottom to light blue at the top. I could not find anything like this using ebay, Google images or with any search engine. It is kind of cool, though. Guessing it is either just meant to be admired or maybe for displaying long stemmed flowers. Does anyone have any ideas who made this? It doesn't feel particularly old to me. I guess it might be MCM.... I found it at a thrift shop I usually just drive by as I don't often find much there.

November 2019 - My latest best guess is that this piece was made in China. I have seen a couple of short cube shaped vases without the cupped top with made in China labels. Pretty similar.

Possibly Holmegaard Glass or some other Swedish glass maker. I have several Swedish vases reminiscent of this vase, but not identical.

Hard to find images of the bottoms of Holmegaard glass pieces, but the ones on CW are smoothly finished and I get the impression that they are thinner glass than this piece. The color variation is similar to Holmegaard pieces, though, so maybe by a competitor. I don't find this pattern among the various works of pieces of Swedish glass makers I looked at, but did find a thread that talks about IKEA stuff made in China so widening my net to search that stuff.

I think he colour is wrong for Holmegaard, but it's a great vase. Empoli take off? Whatevs, it's cool.

Agree, not likely to be Holmegaard. I can't find anything like it. I'm stumped, for now.
