Pre-1963 Dunlop tyre ashtray.

Another of my favourites is this Dunlop tyre ashtray. The tyre itself, which is in fabulous condition, is actually solid. The ashtray part is stainless steel and needed a great deal of elbow grease and metal polish to bring it back to life. However, the really interesting part is that the tyre is marked 'Made in Malaya', which you can see on the second photo. This must date it pre-1963, as the country gained its independence from the British in that year, becoming Malaysia in the process. A wonderful item and with its historical branding, one I'm really proud to have in my collection.
