My grandfather had this lamp and it was given to my mother, than to me. I have no idea about the lamp, and would like to know anything about it. The lamp has a silk cord and has 3 placements for blubs, what confuses me is , that theres a small knob on the side where you would open and pour oil. Can anyone give me any information. thanks chuck

I recently had a pair of old oil lamps that were converted into electric lamps they had the same little knob like yours. It looks like the shade is old slag glass although I don't know how old it is. Beautiful lamp! It looks like something that could've been in a bank or hotel.

Not sure about its heritage, but my grandfather tinkered with anything and everything, I know this lamp has been like this for close to 60 years, I've seen pictures of this from the early 50's

It's a very nice lamp! You should go check out "slag glass lamps" on ebay some of them are pretty pricey. Maybe you could find one like yours on there?

Yes, there are a few very nice slag glass lamps that are very pricey, I know 20 years ago my mother had the lamp appraised, the first thing the dealer did, was to offer her 2500 for the lamp, he told her to use the offer as the appraisal, she still talks about that, I would really like to clean the lamp up, but I dont dare to do so untill I find the proper way to do it.

Very handsome lamp. What is the metal?
