I would like to know more about this table, specifically:

What wood is it made from?
    How old might it be?
What kind of table is it and what might it have been used for?
It's been stored in our wardrobe past 4 years but was a much loved item of my mum's before she passed suddenly. For sentimental reasons I'd just like to know a little more about it if possible.
    Regards
    Dan

this is a vase stand - probably chinese, but possibly japanese. it looks like a pretty nice one too.

The legs and base look to be Gabon Ebony. I can't see the top well but it appears to have an odd grain pattern. I doubt it is terribly old because the bottoms of the feet show modern machinery used on it.

Thank you both, at least I know it isn't a actually a small table now! ???? I think it's very nice and may get a vase to use it as intended now, mum would've loved that.
