Henry Rooke / St. Louis, Mo

One of the older bottles in my collection, I am guessing this one dates to the mid 1880's. Not sure if it held a soda or a beer.
I found a "for sale" ad dated March 4, 1886, that stated Henry Rooke was ready to retire and is wanting to sell two manufacturing establishments. One soda water and ginger ale manufactory, which was located on Barry street and an ale, porter and Weiss beer brewery which was located at 1535 S. B'Way.
Henry stated in his ad that he has been in operation for 34 years, that would take us back to 1862, however my bottle says "established 1864". Perhaps a misprint in the paper or one of the businesses started two years later?
