I like Civil War books in general, but I especially enjoy collecting vintage children's books about the subject . I'd like to share some of them.
First is a Random House book about Robert E. Lee from '53. It's a well written book with nice illustrations. It reminds me of the Whitman or Golden books.
The next two are Lee and Stonewall biographies also from Random House. These were published in their Landmark series in '55 and '59 respectively. The book on Lee was written by Hodding Carter. He wrote several books about the south and was an Assistant Secretary in Jimmy Carter's cabinet.
"Let's go to the Battle of Gettysburg" is next. Remember to bring your lunch, musket and sabres children. Published by G.P. Putnam's Sons in '65.
Last is not strictly a Civil War book, but after all Johnny Yuma was a Rebel. This is a Whitman TV series book from '61.
If you like these, I'll try to dig out some more of them
    Thanks fer takin' a look-see y'all,
    Bill

Hope that drummer boy survived Gettysburg. Saw a Civil War reenactment and the drummer boy didn't make it.

Ftapache, the book is written from the perspective of the Union drummer boy pictured, he survived to drum another day. Not sure about Picketts drummer boy though. Thanks for comments folks.
