No time for alliteration tonight. Perhaps there will be extra next week.
In the meantime Nigel is the gas station attendant. I was editing my photos tonight and discovered Nigel was on the base backwards. The base and his feet are metal and his body is plastic. He has probably been backwards for a few decades.
This set is over 50 years old as it was sold from 1963-1967. It is a different casting from the earlier Esso Gas Pump set I posted a couple months ago although they are similar. The main difference here are the lamps, one of which has just a bit of its pole missing.
Last photo is the base. Just has the model number and Made in England by Lesney. Lesney and Matchbox being the same thing at least when Matchbox was made by Lesney. When Matchbox is made by Mattel or Tyco not so much.

That is the link to my Esso set.
Fantastic BP gas pump setup, I love Nigel!
Nice item. I worked at an Exxon one summer in the early 70's and we did all the things Thomas mentioned.
Thank you very much Newfld.
Thank you very much Thomas. I recall that and the premiums gas stations gave away.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. I started driving when self service took over.
