My wife has recently decided that she wants to get rid of the 'Industrial' light shades above our dining table and replace with art deco flycatchers - "maybe more than three, different colours hanging at different heights" ... her words last week... and something I suggested 2 years ago...hmmm. OK then. So this would obviously be an easy source, fix and good brownie points for me!!

Lady luck was definitely on my side; as within two days of doing, what has become, my daily search on ebay for Kralik art glass, I came across these, listed for just 5 mins, I obviously had to have them. Not only are Kralik shades quite a rarity, to find two in these great blue with pink and clambroth with yellow zebra cane decors and in the same shape was extraordinary. So two down and either 3 or maybe even 5 more shades to go.... I'm guessing I'll have to settle for some non-Kralik pieces for the rest if I expect to get my latest chore complete before Christmas!!!

Nice! I have thought about up-scaling my living and dining room chandeliers with vintage American glass shades, but I can find so little information about this type of shade that I am stumped. Maybe I should go Bohemian! My house was built in 1883 but my chandeliers are more Art Deco,so they probably replaced the gas lamps that were once coming out of the walls.

      Thanks for your comments Kevin.
Glass shades of early periods seem generally harder to find than vases or bowls and possibly considered less as 'objet d'art' and more a fashion/fad that was replaced depending on trends at the time. Many people probably thought less of storing them than simply 'disposing' of them, possibly because of size and general fragility. Even going Bohemian is tough, unless you can find some good quality art deco period 'flycatchers', which from my research, are generally less vibrant in colour and shape. I'm presently searching for some good ones.
      Good luck.

I am thinking fair representation ........ I would lean towards a mix of Kralik/Welz!!!!!!! Just curious, is the blue with pink UV reactive...... Great find!!!!!!!!!

100% Kralik for me Cornhusker. I've sort of lost my UV/Black light - it's somewhere in my study, really gotta sort my s**t out and get tidy. As soon as I find it I'll let you know, although even without testing it I'm confident there it will not react as I've tested this décor on vases and there's no reaction.

You must mean 100% Kralik shades..... as you have Welz pieces in your collection!!!! Maybe they need to come where they are more loved!!!!!!! LOL I posted a knuckle vase with that decor a while ago ....same canes but different ground and it is highly UV reactive. It may be the clear casing coat that is UV reactive. I do have pieces that ground color changes the UV reaction. The UV reaction has little to do in the grand scheme of things.... I do not nor will I ever display under black light.
