Hi Everyone!
I got 5 of these bowls at an estate sale this past weekend. I think they are pretty, but, I got them more so because I just had to try to figure out what that funny maker's mark is! And, for the small price, I couldn't pass up this mystery. They are porcelain, 9 inches across and shallow, less than an inch deep. I don't know what kind of flowers they are and whether the plant on the right is supposed to be the seed pods after the blue flowers on the left have bloomed out. The white dots (anther?) on the blue flowers are raised as are parts of the pods.
Does anyone recognize the maker's mark on these dishes? It looks like a creepy smiley face to me or a creepy clown face. Any help would be wonderful! Thank you! - Mary
I think the flowers are forget-me-nots and maybe lily of the valleys! I’m not sure about mark, but it does look like a smiley face!
Such a pretty & dainty floral design, I agree with Adele looks like lily of the valley (the little bells) and forget me nots or cornflowers in the pattern. Don't know that logo, but the 76 might be the year made. Really lovely
May be a broken stamp - not a postage one.
I think the flowers are Lily of the Valley..
Thank you so much for all the loves, appreciation, and information everyone!! I think you are all right about the flowers!
I believe this crescent half moon mark with three stars is Austrian. Perhaps Stamboul Austria Pottery or Marx & Gutherz.
Correction - not Stamboul
