These candle holders are 4.5" high and 3.5" across at the top. They are unmarked. They are very high quality glass, such high quality that I am going to try to find nine more of these for a brass candelabra that I have. It would be easier to find more if I knew who made them, though. The bottom third reminds me of Westmoreland English hobnail, but these are very smooth, with no sharp points. The top two thirds have pronounced ribs. They are heavy for their size, but not crystal. I did find another pair, just by searching for "amethyst votive candle holders". Any help appreciated!
check HOMCO cathedral diamond; the color may be plum
That's it! Thanks, TallCakes! I'll have to post my only cake stand for you!
Looks like you are right about the color, TallCakes. I think the pink lilac thing is some kind of urban legend. I found some images of these NOS in the original box and it looks like their catalog number was 1201 DI* and they were made in the USA. Interesting since HOMCO made their money be selling items made in low wage countries. Since they went out of business in 2008, there were several US glass makers who were still hanging one when these were probably made. Any idea who made their US glass items?
This actually solved another mystery for me. I am very fond of the daisy or sunflower votives, as well. I had no idea who made those, either.
Looks like my cake stand is LE Smith pink hobnail. I've never tried to find out who made it before. I bought it in a hospital gift shop sometime in the mid to early 2000s on a whim.... It was obviously nice glass...
not sure where HOMCO may have contracted for this glass
Thanks for loving my HOMCO candle holders!
