I am dedicating this post to TallCakes in appreciation for sharing his knowledge so readily. Thanks! This is not EAPG but it is my only cake stand. It is 5" high and 9" in diameter. I don't recall the circumstances, but I was at a hospital and whiling away a few free moments when I found this piece in their gift shop (?!). It was a fair chunk of change, the price sticker which is still on it says $39.95, so I guess that is what I paid for it. It was obviously very high quality glass. Not sure if it was identified as L E Smith, or not. I've never had occasion to use it, but it sits on top of my refrigerator, so I see it every time I open the freezer door. Bonus, I found a nice piece of cut glass and another tall Viking vase up there that sits too for back for me to see it unless I am standing on a chair. Post to follow.
nice one; these still do pretty well on the retail market. Word of caution: refrigerators vibrate and many years ago I lost a cake plate using the top of fridge storage method when it 'walked' off the edge.
Thanks for the warning TallCakes! I actually have this stand ringed by several other pieces and do occasionally have to push one of those back from the edge. The top of my fridge is not smooth, but is textured, which also helps. I have a Westmoreland banana boat sitting closer to the edge than this cake stand and it does not move too much. I have to nudge it back from the edge maybe every six months. Good warning for everyone, though!
Thanks for loving my Smith cake stand. I'll have to bake a cake for it. I have my mother's chocolate mayonnaise cake recipe and haven't made it in several years. This is the 20th anniversary of her death, so it is appropriate to do so now.
TassieDevil loves this.

Thanks for your comment valentino97 (And I get to eat chocolate cake!)! Several of her grandchildren and great grandchildren still make her cake.
