This crystal covered candy dish is 4.5" high x 5" in diameter. It is unmarked. I've had this for several years and picked it up because it is so nicely finished. The lid and handle are very smoothly finished and it sits down in a raised rim around the top of the dish. The sides are ringed by deeply etched, but simple, images of what I think are ferns. The bottom has a very symmetrical ground pontil and the edges of the bottom show significant random scratching, which probably indicates the significant age of this piece. Just really nice work that I didn't want to leave sitting in a thrift shop. No idea who made this or in what country it was made.
Love the etching design, gorgeous
It looks older to me Kevin, just because of the thicker glass.
I know this style of covered bowl was made in volume post war, particularly by the Czech and Japanese. This doesn't look like one of them!
Thanks, Jenni! It is very nicely etched by someone who was very talented.
I agree, racer4four, it is old. I have never seen another in the same style.
Thanks for loving my covered dish!
