I need help identifying this piece of pottery. Just not sure what it is and if it is Caldron. It is porcelain and measures 7 1/4" across and almost 3" deep. I tried to research the markings on the bottom, but was directed to different makers. So, I am totally confused. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

The maker is JC Brown Westhead Moore & Co, "BWM Co". The series is Hereford. C:a 1900-1950

Could be earlier 1880's, look at this site under Brown Westhead Moore Hereford:

The registration number 1920 dates it to 1884, though there is also a lozenge registration mark, which was replaced by the registration number in 1884, so I think that dates it to 1884!

The pattern was registered to the company 1884 (Depose = patent), but it could have been made after that. The bottom marks look to date it to that era, though. What I find odd is that they marked the outside of the lid as well. I've never seen that before.

Thank you all so very much for your help. I am thrilled to find out that I have a piece this old with no damage.

OlofZ, what part of the wash-stand would this piece be? It wold have to be a separate piece with the same pattern. Bowl for steaming washcloth maybe? It may be a part of a line of sanitary ware commissioned by the Duchess of Edinburgh herself, maybe? Thank you so much!!
