This 2" horse head brooch & 1" pair of matching screwback earrings were part of the Coro Originals 1948 jewelry designs, the Victor horse head image simplifying Coro's earlier horse head designs which were more elaborate, Roman chariot style. This set has pink rhinestone ears, the the brooch has one aqua eye & the earrings pale blue eyes. The foreheads have a curved scrape in the goldtone metal, which I now think is an eyebrow rather than damage, having compared with other online pieces. Here also is Oscar the pink glass plug horse, a retired old workhorse made in different glass colors on a yearly basis until discontinued, this one stamped 1978 on front base. The mold was originally from Heisey but used here by Imperial Glass. Coro was founded in 1901
Wow Jenni! That horse head set is just amazing:) and of course I love Oscar too!
Nice little collection you got going on Jenni,,,and there all cute '-)) Gotta go get some gas for the mower, the goat ran away agian whith the na bors dog agian,,, C U later
When I saw the small pic I knew it was one of your finds. Love the glass horse. Sometimes the chinese make the most beautiful pink colours, they are amazing like a long drink to quench one's thirst !~
Really like the Coro horse head set. I have seen online before. Maybe I’ll stumble across a set one day for a good deal :). Congrats on yours
Thanks Judy, I really appreciate your super compliment & really glad you enjoyed these horses - next post, a bull for you as promised think you'll like it
Can you believe it's 70 yrs old Eileen, yep I'm pretty positive this is the 1948 Victor version, both from the orig ad in Julia Carroll's Collectible Jewelry 202 book (might have the title skewed I'm not home to ck it, but it's her 202 book), and the faint mark on the brooch is scripted Coro des pat pend. It does look pretty good for age, I think Phil once told me some older ones are in bad shape, I have to agree
Thank you MyCountry for the really nice compliment & the smile about the goat running off with the dog, that sounds hilarious! I watch a lot of those nature shows on TV, just saw a series on the Columbus Zoo where they let pet dogs run around with other animal species & they accept them, it's a beautiful thing
Phil you have a brilliant eye, to see the glass horse as Chinese, now I see why it looked so familiar to me, like one of those Han dynasty horse statues in the PF Chang's restaurants w. the flared nostrils & squared tails! Thanks a mil for the super eye opening comment my friend
Thanks very much for your great comment MrsT, I know there are a lot of different versions of the Coro horse's head, some had red ears, they came in Duettes, the older Roman chariot looking type (more expensive), etc and I wish you luck finding a nice one
Many thanks everyone for loving these

Ken really pleased you're a fan of the Coro horse head series & appreciate the kind compliments, I like all the versions, this one plus the older Roman chariot type in Duettes, I think Coro did a great job on their figurals
Grateful everybody for the love

Thank you keramikos for the great links about Oscar, he sure was a popular horse and appreciate the info. Your neighbor horse sounds really sweet, they are such lovely animals, I remember seeing a great racehorse Majestic Prince on his third try (and loss unfortunately) of the Triple Crown
Very grateful for the love as always Thomas, thank you so much
Another great glass/brooch post Jenni. The thing is everything doesn't just ho well together they are all wonderful in their own right.
The Heisey horse is delightful, pretty colour and I love it's Tang (thanks Phil) style.
But here its the brooches that get me most. So wonderful. Kitsch, cute, quality!!
Hi Karen, really appreciate your super comments, I never felt this Oscar was the most beautiful horse until Phil mentioned the Chinese dynasty angle, then I was yes, of course, puts it in a whole new light! You know they made this horse in different colors for over 20 yrs, luckily I got the 2nd one Imperial made. And the brooch set, know what I personally think, besides people that love & ride horses, back in the 40s there were a lot of horseracing fans, therefore the name Victor
Mary thanks so much for the great comments and enjoying my horses, it was actually hard for me to find a matched set of the Coro pieces with all pink ears, as they also made them in red. These are still floating around the 'net just watch the quality as they are old, once again an "rl" find lol
Your love & thoughtfulness means so much
