This cameo pin was gifted to me by my sister who received it when an elderly relative passed away. I am hoping someone can suggest its age and possible origin. I would never sell it and would like to learn more about it. Thank you.
Gorgeous carved shell cameo, please do keep this it's a rare beauty. The scene looks familiar to me, a mythological goddess (possibly Athena) holding a team of horses, perhaps I've seen this on Wedgwood jasperware
Oh, I love it!
Thank you very much for the information and the link valentino97. Appreciate the love Newfld and raven3766.
Italian, helmet shell, Nike/Victoria:

Although the hinge & clasp with long pin stem are of an older type, the way it is held into the frame suggests early 20th century.
Cameosleuth -- thank you for the information. I always wear it with an eraser stuck between the pin stem and the clasp -- just in case!
A clever solution to a real & present danger! I have some in my collection that came with the clutch for a stickpin on the pin stem. Glad to hear you wear your piece. High time cameos came back in fashion. :)
