I got this map a few years ago at one estate sale, but only now got around to look at it. I didn't look at the date on the front page, I just went to the "sightseeing" page. To my surprise, there were no Twin Towers. I looked at the date, and understood why. And then the sadness set in...in 1961 the Twins were not there yet, in 2001 there were no longer there...As the 17th Anniversary of 9/11 fast approaching, there are so many somber thoughts...Always in our memories.

Those old Manhattan pix look like the old B&W movies like Naked City, cool map. Very touching about the Towers, as a NYer 9/11 was an even more frightening & unforgettable day, so many losses

Well said on the twin towers, for years loved to go up and photograph, almost get blown off, you had to watch the wind and the gusts. The map itself is a treasure trove of memories to new yorkers who probably would never think to buy one !!~

Even in 1982 my hotel right beside the New York Times had 3d postcards from the early 70's of the WTC, much looking like 2 gold blocks !~

Vynil, Jenni, Thomas, Phil, Bobby, Buckethead, Roy- thank you for your wonderful comments and appreciation.

Vynil, Bobby, thank you for your generous compliments.

Yes, Jenni, I can totally relate. The memories are still very vivid. I used to work in the City Hall area at that time, it was one of the worst and scariest days one can imagine.

Thomas, I will explore and study this map in more detail, i'm sure it will be fascinating!

Phil, Buckethead, Roy, it's so great we each have and cherish our special memories of this magnificent piece of history.

Anything, Iggy, Charcoal- thanks for stopping by and your loves!
