    Trying to figure out who made this dresser. It has castor wheels and H W Detroit stamped on the back. It has been in the family for two generations . We think it was purchased in Quincy, Il. in 1940’s.

      Looks like a possible Empire style pre Civil War, but I think pre Victorian style the 4 board back if it’s original is the key to the age. As far as the maker no idea. Does it have a secret drawer at the very bottom front? More pics would help.
      I’ve repaired and refinished antiques for a number of years.

      Not empire.

      Victorian dresser-- fairly typical of the period.

      Would date from about the 1860s- 90s. Some photos of the drawer joints would be helpful.
