This vase is about 4.75" high and 3" in diameter at its widest point. It is a very glass-like porcelain, made by Middle Kingdom, a US company founded in 1998, as an homage to antique Chinese porcelain. Their web site describes this vase as glazed porcelain. Manufacturing is done in Jingdezhen, China where imperial porcelain was traditionally made.

At first I thought my piece was a tokkuri for serving sake but the maker's web site only mentions vases. I have drunk a fair amount of sake, however, and this would work pretty well for pouring into a sake ochoko. It actually does, as I tried it. When I turned it over in a thrift shop I read this on the bottom: "MK BO JIA", which I later found means "Middle Kingdom" and the name of the designer "Bo Jia". The first image pretty well captures its proportions, though the shoulder is a bit exaggerated. The color is a tad bit deeper red, a color MK calls "coral red". This little vase sells new for $21 plus shipping and I paid $.50 for mine in a thrift shop.
I'm gonna call it a sake bottle, whatever it is....
Thanks for loving my sake bottle. There!
