I was wondering if anyone could help me find out anything about these keys. They have numbers on them. The long one has 3609 on and it upside down. The other one has Y53. It looks be imprinted into itas were the other one stands up. Thanks for any information on them.

These are old door-lock keys. The modern pin tumbler lock was invented ca. 1860 and these keys were slowly fazed out over 100 years. The longer key is an unfinished casting - you can see the flashing (tiny rib) sticking out all around the edges. Every key made from the same mold will have the same number on it, probably indicating the style of the key or the model of the lock it fits. The second one appears to have been drop-forged out of iron or mild steel. The number appears to have been stamped into it after production and identifies it as above, or possibly matches it to a specific lock.

Hey! I’ve been looking for a y53 cause that’s the look to my bedroom door! I would love to but it off you, that way my roommates can stop coming in unannounced lolololol me please let me know if you’re willing to sell or even make a copy, just need to be able to lock my door haha
