Here is a 30" x 20" oil painting on wrapped canvas in the original frame by Pacific Grove, CA artist David Horn. It is a big painting and normally I would have passed it by as I just don't have a place to even store it. But...... One of my hobbies is documenting artists who are not well documented and this painting has an amazing amount of provenance and documentation attached verso, including the artist's catalog number, original gallery sales receipt, name and address of the owner, business card of the gallery that sold it and a biography of the artist. Once I lugged it home, I was glad that I spent $10 for it as I can find out virtually nothing about this artist and I have a lot of experience ferreting out biographical information for artists. Based on the quality of the work, I suspect that he was a commercial artist moonlighting as a fine artist, which is quite common. He seems to have achieved a reasonable amount of success as a fine artist during his lifetime, but as is often the case, after he either died or became inactive as an artist, his work as an artist faded into obscurity, a very common circumstance. There are a half dozen men in the Social Security Death Index who are candidates to be this man. So, here we are. I will add him to the California page of my art collection web site, and donate this to a more upscale thrift shop where it may find a home with someone who has space for it.

I am art collector too, and we not that lucky to find info on the Artist sometimes , this is great to find some info on the back.
You did very good here, just the info is priceless, in addition of the very low price you pay for the painting, well done you.

Thanks Alan2310! I can count on one hand the number of times in 20 years of collecting art that I have found a piece this well documented. I just wish that I had space enough to keep it. I will try to find it a good home.

      Thanks buckethead!
