This 4 1-2"H x 4"W heavyweight glass bird is from Viking's 1973 ruby animals series, and is numbered 7289R. Hard to photograph, as there is a lot of dark shading in the sculpted areas, but I did my best (early daylight)
Nice color,,ruby red.

Very nice color! I have two "Bluebirds of Happiness" glass birds, one looks more like a Chickadee and was etched/signed "Leo Ward" in 1988. The other one was done in 1993 and is etched/signed "Ron Ray". My grandmother bought them and she gave them to me not long before she passed at the age of 93. Now I am thinking I want to get one that looks like this one does, the colors would look really great with the Red glass bird offsetting the Blue ones :)
Such a cutie, would be welcome on anyones windowsill !~
Your glass birds sound beautiful Tlynnie and were a great gift from your grandma, I love the term bluebirds of happiness it is so hopeful. Hope you do find a nice red glass bird to add to your collection, and look forward to the future post. Thanks for your sweet comment
Thanks Phil for the great compliment & image, I wish I had a big window with levels to show my glass animals & see the rainbow reflections of the sunlight
Greatly appreciate the love

Love the color.I have one like yours signed by Ray but it’s not near as nice.I think Viking makes some of the nicest glass that’s full of color that’s still affordable.
Thanks jbingham95 for the great comment and luv, I really love my Viking Glass animals as they are beautifully made, but there are a couple drawbacks - they weigh a ton (leaded glass possibly, don't really know) so you can't display them comfortably on a glass shelf, and taking a good picture of them in ANY light is challenging as dark places appear at all angles - for instance this cute bird has a red nose, not black. Some are affordable, others not esp if they go on auction or are larger sized
Tigra I am so pleased you liked my red glass bird, many thanks for the love and appreciation

Pretty little red bird, you did a nice job with the images. Small items never are easy to photograph.
Thanks Sylvester for the really nice comment & compliment about the photos, I'm so glad you understand the agony (lol) of having a difficult subject to photograph, my toughest are always the Viking animals!
Many thanks Anna for the kind love & enjoying my red glass bird
