I just love his face!
I have never purchased a figurine before. They have no use whatsoever, but I could not resist his face! Now that I explained why I bought him I want to share a bit of information about him.
He most likely started out in life with a companion - a female companion. She left his side some time ago, even though he is a handsome young fellow. He stands 13 inches tall and survived more than 100 years relatively unharmed. He wears colonial style clothing. His clothing appears hand painted but there are very few details on it.
The mark on the back indicates that he was made by Unger, Schneider & Cie, a German company. The website PM&M dates this mark to 1875 - 1879: https://www.porcelainmarksandmore.com/germany/thuringia/graefenthal-03/index.php .
Usually, I don't take strange men home with me, but I made an exception because he didn't cost much.
Thanks for looking:)
Many thanks, fortapache, Newfld, and jscott0363 :)
Nice find, I approve !~
He certainly is a lovely lad! I hope he keeps you good company.
Thanks so much for your comment, PhlDMorris. I am glad you approve. My husband didn't. That's the reason the young man is sitting in a closet - LOL
Thanks for your comment, racer4four. He lives in a closet right now. I re-arrange my treasures from time to time (some come out and some others get stored for some time), and until such time comes again, the lovely lad has his home in the closet together with some other stored items:)
Many thanks for the love:
