    Would like to know more about this box. It's about 3 feet long and 18 inches wide. The owner was a WWII vet and kept everything so its entirely possible it dates back to the war and is military. He also worked his entire life for CSX railroad, so it could be tied to the RR. Any help would be appreciated. Obviously the handles have been added later and I think it might be cherry wood. Thanks for any help

      Hinges are slightly ornate & military doesn't do that.

      Could be from an antique construction box set like Meccano, Marklin, Erector, etc... many larger sets were sold in similar wodden boxes

      Thank you so much. I found a picture of an old Erector set that is really close. I am now wondering it might have been a Locomotive based Erector set. That would make sense given his career. Appreciate the help, this site is the best!!!!
