This platter is 22" in diameter and weighs 15 lbs. I couldn't pass this one up just because it is a big hunk of glass in its original box. I believe that a punch bowl and cups go with this platter. I am going back to the thrift shop tomorrow and see if they have the punch bowl and glasses. They weren't there today. Sometimes things trickle out to the floor over a few days. If they aren't out tomorrow, I will ask about them. They have several Anchor Hocking punch bowl sets and snack sets in their original boxes, too. My guess is that the inventory of an antique shop was recently donated to this thrift shop.
it's unfortunate that this is known as 'Daisy and Button' as it has neither motif included. This was originally made by McKee Bros c1910 and named 'Rotec' and it has cane and pointed oval with hobstar motifs included. The form could be either a torte plate or underplate for punch bowl...
Thanks, TallCakes! Maybe I'll find out tomorrow what it was sold as if there is anything else associated with it at the thrift shop.
Smith made the punch set with bowl, cups and underplates for many years. IIRC my mom got a set with S&H green stamps back in the 60s or 70s.
Thanks for loving my platter! The rest of it never showed up...

I love this! I’ve been looking for one to complete my great grandmothers set from the 40’s. Beautiful, you’re so fortunate to have come across this.
You can find these pretty easily on ebay, donjuan. They are not uncommon.
I’ve looked everywhere. Can seem to just find the underplate
Sorry, can’t
Do a search and save it for "L. E. Smith" "daisy and button platter". One will pop up eventually. I've seen two or three at a time for sale on ebay, in the past. There are a couple of other L E Smith patterns for the same size platter, if you just want one that works. Yeah, I don't see any on there right now, but when I found this one a couple of years ago, there were three of them on ebay.
I have an L E Smith punch bowl and cups that works with this platter. I think I posted that one on CW, too....
I just acquired the punch bowl in an amber color. Would this be a Smith product? Or is it McKee? There are air bubbles in the glass and a pointiel mark in the bottom.
Cool! I have a mismatched bowl someplace, but made by LE Smith. Not sure if I have posted it on CW. As I recall, both pieces are molded so do not have pontil marks. I have no idea where it is, somewhere in a box in my basement. I will have to see if I can find images of the bowl.
It would be helpful if you could post some images of your bowl with measurements. The bowl would be pretty large, probably weighing 15-20 lbs, since the plate weighs 15 lbs.... If you post it, I am sure someone will be able to tell you what it is.
Ah, I did post the bowl... It only weighs 13.5 lbs. I thought it would be more!

Thanks. I checked it out and left some comments.
