    This piece has some moriage and lots of gilding, along with some other satsuma designs, but it is porcelain instead of earthenware. i'm not even certain that it is Japanese. unfortunately the tusks are broken - must have been poached.

      Broken tusk or not, he's still a great find! The elephant figures with trunk in the "up" position is supposed to bring good luck to whoever has it in their home.
