I spotted this cup tucked away on a bottom shelf in an Antiques centre, looking very dark, but in the light it has wonderful iridescence. I think it's a cup from a punch set, and it's the first one I've seen in the UK. It was only £2 ( small chip on rim), so I splashed out! I think it is an Amber Imperial Glass Cup, and I think the pattern is Grape and Cable, but I got a bit confused when looking it up!

many collectors call the pattern Imperial Grape. One catalog names this The Niagara Pattern, and shows the cup with saucer as open stock items. It is pattern number 473. A punch set was also made in the pattern. This looks to be amethyst. The pattern was made and reissued for many years by Imperial Glass.

Thanks Tallcakes, I thought the colour was amethyst at first, but when the sun went in it looked more orange or Amber!
