I found this in my grandmother's jewelry box after she passed away. I have no idea what it is. I have been searching the internet and have not seen anything like it. I asked a couple of people at work who are into vintage jewelry and they both thought it was a type of clip for a sweater. It has a marking inside one hand that appears to say 1950 by I.I.E Co. I searched for this name and came up with nothing. Any info about it or what it might be worth would be greatly appreciated.
I have one almost just like it. I was told it's a scarf clip.
I like your hankie chip, I have one, just like it. The chain goes around the purse handle and the hand holds you hankie or handkerchief.
Hi there, LFlynnOC. What you have is a glove holder. The clasp holds a pair of gloves (and a proper lady NEVER went out without her gloves). The chain fastened it to the strap of the purse. And footnote to sss: a hankie clip is a good guess; however, back in those days, a hankie was a private accessory for dabbing one's moist brow, or discreetly blowing one's nose. It would never have been considered for public display on a glove clip. It was stowed in the bottom of your purse or tucked inside your sleeve.
