I still use the phrase "I'm just powdering my nose!", when I take a visit to the ladies room....much to the amusement of my friends - but looking back to the late Victorian times, through the elegant Art Deco period and right up to the modern 50's & 60's, ladies the world over were carrying their beautiful compacts with them to ensure they were appropriately powdered!. Here's a couple of beauties that I especially like, but there are so many variations of these fabulous vintage vanity items to delight the most avid collector.

Love the ballerina compact, probably 'Stratton' notice the signature Baron who drew a lot of ballerina designs for stratton on their compacts. Think they are usually the most collectable of all stratton compacts. Love the yellow guilloche enamel one too, if its silver with guilloche could be worth up to £200 or more.
