This jar has three layers of glass. Inside it is white, followed by a peach colored layer, followed by a clear layer. Pretty complex for something so small (4.5" high x 3" diameter). The lid has a cutout for a spoon and clear decoration on top that looks like a berry of some sort. The "stem" ends abruptly and is a bit sharp so a piece may have broken off. The lid is also made of the same three layers of glass. It is signed on the bottom, but no matter which way I turn it, some of the letters appear to be backwards. I suspect it is not English, even though some of the letters appear to be English. I struggled to get the best images of the inscription and took numerous images in an attempt to do so. This is a simple but very high quality piece. I welcome any comments on this one. It maybe be Bohemian glass and I am categorizing it that way to get some of the European glass pros to take a look at it..

UPDATE: After staring at the lower set of characters for some time, I started to see it as "Bixbau '80", "Rixbau '80", etc., but I can't tell if I am seeing things and can't explain what comes after the '80.... I might just be seeing things.

      think that may be 'Czechoslovakia'

I agree with you, think it looks a lot like the Murano-Italian style of white cased glass that was very popular during 1970s and 80s. Like Empoli. I have the same glass color and style in a large pedestal snifter, I collected them for a while.

Thanks for your comments TallCakes and truthordare! I am going back and forth on the signature and origins of this piece. I think I will let it percolate as an unsolved mystery for awhile.....

      Thanks for loving my thing!
