This glass fish measures 11" long x 4" wide x 5" high. It was a $3 thrift shop find today. I figured it was probably Made in China for that price, but it is so well done that I could not leave without it. I know where there is a very nice crystal Blenko fish for sale for a very reasonable price, but it is so large that I am waffling on that one. I just came from looking at it when I found this fish, so decided to catch this one while I make up my mind about the Blenko fish. I only found two others like this in searching Google Images and ebay. One was selling for $65 and the other for $75. I don't think that I would ever pay that much for one of these. Both of those had a blue lining inside the fish that only goes to the back of the top fin, which is the extent of the cavity in the fish. Neither identified the maker. There is a mold line on the bottom that runs between the back ends of the side fins. Does anyone know who makes this fish?
Very pretty fish, and I really love your photos!
Do you ever click your glass to see how it sounds? Asian glass has a very definite clunky low register sound, while the earlier glass items don't. Not very scientific, but often that little experiment is confirmed. I just bought a pair of green spatter vase which I though were German vintage, but no. Clunky too. Have a good day.
@Newfld - Thanks! I am either getting better at taking photos or having a good run of luck. I don't know which!
@truthordare - I almost always do this. Mostly to see if something is cracked as I don't think glass will ring like a bell if it is cracked. I read that someplace. This fish has a "tink" to it!
Thanks for catching my fish!
