This 2 1-4" ship brooch has a curvy wide design, with pink, blue & white rhinestones, old fashioned mast, breezy flag and curled ocean waves below, in a goldtone setting. By Coro (1901-1998), Pegasus mark from the 1940s, patent number 149,068. Thought this an appropriate post for Columbus Day weekend

I love the way she's pitching - in heavy seas, apparently!
      Very pretty!

Blow me down! (My favourite phrase) This is so pretty the design sort of reminds me of a mixture of a Chinese junk and a viking longboat?! - it's like an illustration of a ship I've got in a fairy tale book illustrated by the Grahame Johnson sisters.

Possibly it is from Popeye- it relates to ships in battle and the force of the cannon would often blow them down....I just remember it from the Wind in the Willows film as a child where Ratty sings a song called 'Blow the Man Down?'

Thanks Lauren, that's where it comes from the song Blow the Man Down, and yes it was also a Popeye cartoon and saying (thx google lol)

Thanks Mary it's a pretty cool Coro ship right, I love their romantic old time pieces. Oh I have a lot of Coro, some in fairly good condition & others showing their age. I want to post a really nice enamel floral set that's rather worn around my mom's BD, it's coral and she used to love that color. Appreciate your kind words & love, happy Columbus Day weekend

Many thanks Vynil, very glad you enjoyed this ship and hope you have a great Columbus Day weekend too

Thomas I totally appreciate the info about Pegasus and music, I love mythology and jumped right to wiki to learn more, what a great story of Pegasus & the Muses - I mainly connected him with Perseus from the "Titans" movies, so very glad to know more about him. Styx was a great band - of course their name has a mythology vibe too lol! Great comments my friend

Aw Roycroft, such a kind compliment, I try to make my posts pleasant for others to enjoy & really pleased at the appreciation. Ships ahoy for sure, after all it's Columbus Day weekend!

Thanks guys for the love as well, and enjoy the holiday weekend

Mary thank you so much for the love, I am really happy you liked this little mystery ship, whatever it is supposed to be - sailboat, Viking ship, pirate or storybook ship, Coro just titled it "ship brooch" and left it to our imagination! Your thoughtful support truly means alot
