I knew this was a fake when I bought it. The price of $10.oo was a clue plus I saw an exact pair for $110.oo each at a market the same weekend.
Why did I buy a fake? Well I'm glad you asked:
a/ its a good story,
b/ its a constant warning
and c/ its an excellent example of laser etching
By the way it was faked in Eastern Europe - so proof there are still some excellent if dubious glassmakers there.
Love it, I do the same thing or decide that for the low price it's good to have a few fakes, if only for comparison's sake. :-)
