My biggest Ruckl glass vase in the collection - Orange Peloton at 14 inches & 3.5 pounds

To finish the week, I am showing this big Ruckl orange peloton glass baluster vase, which has a connection to the previous post of smaller orange vases.

It is in perfect condition, not marked and acquired from France. The background is a dense orange spatter, with red and cobalt blue threads sparsely applied and pulled. The rim is polished, that is unusual, which might indicate that some of the Ruckl glass was meant for the higher quality markets in Europe. Since shipping this piece would have been a much more expensive export. I have always felt that Ruckl did not skimp on materials, and were in tandem with the more elaborate creative Kralik glass pieces of the interwar period.

Something that Ruckl was not prone to do was be inspired by other glass design forerunners, in spite of the fact they entered the decorative glass arena much later than the major art glass producers of Czechoslovakia, their glass is unique in fabrication and decor, much more in line with the current trends of the 1920s and 30s as my poster from the Novy Bor Tango Sklo exhibit indicates.
