Melissa Grimes is an Austin, TX artist who does mostly figure painting in oils and acrylics, though also does collages, landscapes and still lifes. Grimes has a blog, web site and sells on ebay under the id mjg9999. I really like her use of light and shadow and her choice of color palettes. I particularly love the expressive way in which she captures her models' facial expressions, hands, and eyes, especially her nudes. It was very difficult to pick four images of her works for this post. I have a dozen of her paintings in my collection, all of which are shown on the Texas page of my art collection web site.

"Casey in a headscarf", Melissa Grimes, 14" x 11", oil on board
"Girl in a green robe", Melissa Grimes, 10" x 8", oil on board
"Girl in a mirror", Melissa J. Grimes, 16" x 12", oil on board
"The Direct Gaze", Melissa Grimes, 8" x 10", oil on board

@bluderbuss2 - Thanks! She is really good. Not very many artists can do human anatomy as well as she does. Throw in her color palette and use of light and shadow and she does some great work. Her style has become looser over the years, though. I prefer some of the detailed work she used to do.

Thanks for loving my artwork ho2cultcha and Caperkid!

today I read your web, looking the oils and watercolors so one that attract my curiosity and it was from where I reside, Córdoba Argentina, done by Eumelia Bravo, I search and found this Bravo Herrera de Colombo, Eumelia. She died on 03/26/2023 in Córdoba. Her nieces Carolina, Eleonora, Alejandra, Marcela and Julio Cornejo Colombo y Flias. participate in her death and accompany her beloved uncle Congo and her cousins Andrea, Fernanda and Natalia in this painful moment. They ask for prayers in his memory.
