My last hunt for beauties resulted in this cameo because it is so gorgeous. I don't normally purchase cameos and now I know why, there are zillions of them and it is hard to identify this one among the multitudes. If there is a SME out there that can tell me info, please share. Thank you.

I have no idea what an SME is, so don't know if I am one, but can tell you a little. It's a very unusual setting. The cameo itself is coral. The photos do not show enough detail to tell if she is just a pretty lady or has a more specific identity.

The outer ring is chalcedony in color shading from carnelian to a very pale orange. You are aware that it has developed some hairline cracks. It appears stable.

I have no way to assess the gold, but would be surprised if it is not of good quality. The pearls also cannot be evaluated from a photo, but you can do the 'tooth test' to see if they are glass or came from a mollusk.

You are a gem to share the information that you know with me. You do sound like a SME, a subject matter expert. You definitely know more than I do about this piece.

      Thank you!

You are most welcome. And now I know what an SME is, so we both learned. :)
