Peranakan / Nonya Straits Spoon

The Peranakan Straits pieces were made for the descendants of Chinese immigrants who settled in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. They are also known as the Baba Nonya and the pieces are also called Nonya Straits pieces. The Thai market was slightly different as it included Thai royalty and business class people as well as Chinese descendants. They are known for pictures of flowers - particularly peonies and these birds like in this one - called 'Tweeties', funny enough! Some gorgeous pottery in the most vibrant colors - made in China - mostly Jingdezhen.
